My new mount arrived for my 50th birthday. A gift to myself for being a good boy all year long. It is the iOptron IEQ30. This mount should be a huge upgrade from the LX80 that didn't turn out to be as good as I expected it to be. This new iOptron mount is about 30 pounds lighter than the LX80 mount, so it will be much easier to transport and assemble. As for my old LX80, I am sending it back to the Meade Service Center for repairs and then plan on selling it once it is working properly again. I'd hate to sell it in its current condition and have someone else have trouble with it. I am going to keep the 8" SCT telescope for use with the IEQ30 mount, since it has performed well for me so far. I plan on purchasing a 127mm refractor scope as soon as I sell the LX80 mount.
